Somalia Signs UPEACE Charter
UPEACE Somalia marked a significant achievement with the signing of the Instrument of Accession by Somali President Dr Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, confirming the official endorsement of the Somali Government.
The endorsement by the President – himself a UPEACE PhD graduate – is an important step for the Mogadishu-based campus. “This is highly welcome news. Somalia is the 42nd country to sign the Instrument of Accession, confirming its importance on the international stage as an institution of peace-building, development and sustainability,” said Dr Mohamed.
Somalia’s President Dr Hassan Sheikh Mohamed signed the Instrument of Accession while attending the 77th UN General Assembly.
